Privacy Policy - محاسبة (Muhasaba)

This Privacy Policy explains how the محاسبة (Muhasaba) mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information. Signing in is optional. You can sign in with Google or with Sign in with Apple. We receive your name, your email address, and a unique account identifier. We never receive your Google or Apple password. If you sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email", Apple gives us a private relay address instead of your real email, and Apple shares your name only the first time you sign in.
• Your activity content. The deeds and counters you set up, your daily deed and dhikr/azkar records, the notes you attach to them, and your progress history.
• Group information. If you join or create a group, we store your membership and role in that group. Members of a group you join can see your name. The group's supervisors can see your deeds and recorded progress. Other students in the group cannot see your progress, and your email address is not shown to other users.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, or device identifiers for advertising. The App contains no ads and no analytics or tracking tools.

2. Location for Prayer Times

The App never uses your device's GPS. To calculate prayer times you can type coordinates yourself, or tap the button to detect your location. Detection sends a request from your device to these IP geolocation services: ipwho.is, geojs.io, and ipinfo.io. Each of them sees your IP address and returns an approximate, city-level location. The App saves the resulting coordinates and city name on your device only. We do not send your location to our servers and it is not synced to your account. Detection runs only when you tap the button.

You can also search for a city by name. The text you type is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service (geocoding-api.open-meteo.com), which also sees your IP address. We do not store your search on any server, and the result you pick stays on your device. These services handle your IP address under their own privacy policies.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide core features: tracking your deeds and dhikr, showing your history and analytics, and calculating prayer times.
• To sync your data across your devices when you are signed in.
• To enable the Groups feature (showing your name to group members and your progress to the group's supervisors).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.

4. Data Storage and Processing

Your data is stored on your device and, when you sign in, synced to our backend provider Supabase, which stores data on secure cloud infrastructure on our behalf. The synced data is your profile (name and email), your deeds and counters, your deed and dhikr records with their notes, and your group memberships. Prayer-time settings and location stay on your device. Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS. Reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device and do not go through our servers.

5. Offline Use

The App works offline. If you do not sign in, your data remains on your device only and is not transmitted to our servers.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only with the service providers required to run the App: Google or Apple for sign-in, Supabase for storage and sync, the IP geolocation services above when you choose to detect your location, Open-Meteo when you search for a city, and Expo (650 Industries) for app updates. The App checks Expo's update servers (u.expo.dev) when it launches and when you return to it, and downloads any new version of the App. Expo receives your IP address and standard request information: your platform, the app and runtime version, and an installation ID generated by the updates library. Inside the App, group supervisors and members see the information described in section 1. We do not share your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time inside the App: open the side menu, choose الحساب (Account), and tap حذف الحساب (Delete account). This permanently deletes your account from our backend together with your profile, deeds, counters, deed and dhikr records, notes, and group memberships. Groups you created are deleted too, and their members keep their deeds as personal ones. The App then signs you out and removes your records from the device. You can also request deletion by contacting us at the email below. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
